Travel in Cathar country

Journey to Béziers, Carcassonne, Minerve, Montségur
....through the remains of the Cathar Castles, set high on defensive mountainous crags
...and plunge into the heart of the life and philosophy of the Cathars
...reviving the terrible drama of the Albigensian war, a crucial event of European and French history.

At the start of the 13th century, the pope Innocent III ordered a crusade (the Albigensian crusade) against the Cathars and their allies in the Languedoc.

With the appropriation of the South by the nobility of the north of France, the slow decline of the Occitan civilization and of Catharism, began.

Together with Fabien Bages, a local historian and storyteller, you will discover these events and histories, the men and women involved in the drama of the crusade at the very places where they were played out.

Using traditional accounts, tales and popular song, as well as the famed troubadour poetry, we invite you to immerse yourself in the complexity of Cathar philosophy.
